Alba Carolina Citadel is an impressive, unique and great place of Alba Iulia and Romania. This citadel is a n iconic element of Vauban architecture during since 1715, so over 300 years of this unique place so well preserved. You will see interestimg building, a huge park and many others. It is a must see!!!

Curiosamente no estaba en nuestra ruta, ya que en todas las cosas que nos habían recomendado no estaba incluida esta ciudad. Pero lo cierto es que es una visita indispensable. Hay mucho parking a su alrededor, es relativamente fácil aparcar. Merece la pena una paseo por toda la ciudadela, son unas cuatro horas paseando tranquilo, no es grande pero tiene varias cosas que merece la pena ver, como las catedrales.

Within the citadel walls you can find plenty of landmarks to admire (two churches, roman ruins, museums, etc.). You can take a walk around the citadel walls.

After being refurbished few years ago, the immense citadel of Alba Iulia is a real beautiful place. All is now clean and taken care of and most of the building inside have been also refurbished. The area next to the Union Room and Union Museum is the best and you can enjoy drinking a bear or a coffee here watching people walking buy and the children playing.

Partially rebuild in the last 5 years, offering special moments when the guard, like in the end of Middle Ages, is changed in every 2 hours, you can fill your self back in history.

The old Alna Iulia citadel is by far the most interesting I have ever seen in my traveS. It is completely renewed and you cannot find a similar one anywhere in the world.
